Choir App

The choir app for rehearsals, sheet music and communication

One app for your whole choir: members, events, a digital sheet music library, cashbook and push messages, on web, iPhone, Android and desktop. Free 60-day trial.

What is a choir app?

A choir app is an application that lets a choir run its entire organisation in one place: member management, rehearsal scheduling, a digital sheet music library, communication and bookkeeping. Instead of a spreadsheet, a WhatsApp group, a folder of paper scores and an email list, the choir uses a single app on phone, tablet, computer and in the browser. Chorilo is such a choir app: hosted in Germany and GDPR compliant, available as a web app and as iOS, Android and desktop apps.

What can the choir app do?

  • Member management

maintain records and custom fields, organise voice groups, import via CSV, assign permission groups.

  • Digital sheet music library

upload scores as PDF, link them to events, annotate right in the app, read offline and keep versions.

  • Rehearsal scheduling

create events, collect RSVPs, track attendance and send automatic reminders.

  • Communication

messages, chats, polls and push notifications synced across every device, without a private WhatsApp group.

  • Parent linking

with one login, parents accept or decline for all their children, see their events and vote in polls on their behalf.

  • Cashbook

record income and expenses, connect a bank account, capture receipts, issue donation receipts and archive in a tax-compliant way.

  • Concerts

plan programmes, sell tickets with QR-code admission, and let the AI suggest matching concert programmes.

Why a choir app instead of WhatsApp and spreadsheets?

1

Everything in one place

Members, sheet music, events and communication in one app instead of four separate tools.

2

GDPR compliant

Member data does not belong in private WhatsApp groups. Chorilo is hosted in Germany and GDPR compliant.

3

Sheet music always with you

Your whole library on a tablet, with annotations that stay in sync across devices, even offline.

4

Less admin

RSVPs, reminders and attendance run automatically. Directors and the board save time for the music.

For children’s and youth choirs

In a children’s choir, it’s not the singers who reply but their parents. With parent linking, a parent logs in once and accepts or declines for all their children, sees their events and messages and votes in polls on their behalf. Children without their own email address get a family address, so all mail goes to the parent.

Welcome to Chorilo! In this video, we’ll show you step by step how to use the app for your choir.

It all starts with an email: your choir director invites you. It contains your login details: your email address and a temporary password. At the very bottom of the email, you’ll find the links to the app. No email? Then check your spam folder.

Download the Chorilo app from the App Store or from Google Play. Install it, open it, done. The app is free.

When you first open the app, your phone asks whether Chorilo may send you notifications. Tap Allow, so you never miss an event. After a quick overview, you’re ready to go. Declined by mistake? You can change that later in your phone’s settings.

Now you log in. Enter the email address from the invitation, then the password from the email. Watch out for upper and lower case. And now: Login.

Your phone may ask whether to save the password or use Face ID. That’s up to you. Then a quick tour shows you where to find things: the bar at the bottom, live rehearsal, your playlist, the bell for news, and your profile. Just tap Next.

First, set your own password: tap your profile picture at the top right and then Change password. Enter the old password from the email, then your new one twice. Save, and you’re done.

The home screen shows your next events at a glance. The bar at the bottom takes you to events, sheet music and messages. Further down, you’ll see the latest notification from your choir.

Under Events, you’ll find all rehearsals and performances. You can respond right on the card. Just confirm, and your choir director knows. Tip: Only without response shows you where your answer is still missing.

Tap an event to see all the details: date, time, place and description. Can’t make it? Then simply decline. Under Attendees, you can see who’s coming, sorted by voice part.

Under Sheet Music, you’ll find all your choir’s pieces. Tap a piece, and the music opens. To turn pages, swipe sideways or tap the edge. A tap in the middle shows the bars.

With the pencil, you add your own annotations, for example breath marks or highlights. There’s a highlighter, a pen, an eraser and text. Once saved, your annotations are there again the next time you open the piece.

Behind the three dots, you’ll find a piano and a metronome. Use the piano to quickly find your starting note.

For pieces with the Voice Trainer, you can practise your own part. Tap Trainer at the bottom. Choose your voice part and tap play; the music scrolls along. You can also set the tempo, the volume of each part, and loops for tricky passages.

Under Messages, you’ll find your choir’s notifications. If there’s a poll, choose your answer and tap Vote. You’ll see the results right away. And you can still change your vote later.

Below it, you can write a comment. Send it, and everyone in the choir sees your reply.

In Chat, you can write to the whole choir or to individual people. Open a chat, type your message, and send.

Under More, you’ll find other areas and your profile. With Customize bar, you decide which areas appear in the bar at the bottom. Then tap Done.

In your profile, you choose which notifications you get by push or email. Under Sheet music view, you decide how to turn pages and which bars you see. In your profile, you can also change your name and photo, and that’s where you log out.

You’re all set! On a computer, log in at chorilo.com with the same login details. Forgot your password? Then tap Forgot password on the login page. You’ll find more guides in the help section at chorilo.com. And for questions about events or music, your choir director is there to help.

Yes. You upload scores as PDF, assign them to individual voices or events, annotate them right in the app and read them offline. Annotations stay in sync across devices and are not lost when members change.
Is the app suitable for choir directors and the board?
Yes. Directors and board members schedule rehearsals, keep an eye on attendance, send reminders, run the cashbook and use permission groups to decide who can see and edit what. Members use the same app for sheet music, events and RSVPs. More from a director’s point of view: Chorilo for choir directors.
