What you only get this way with Chorilo

We did not find these features documented by any of the six apps we checked. On price, storage and trial period, all six take a different approach.

Treasury, board, sheet music and voice trainer in one tool

The apps we checked that have a cashbook have no sheet music management, and those with sheet music have no cashbook. In Chorilo, treasurer, board and choir director work from the same member data.

A separate deadline for everyone who hasn't replied yet

Alongside the normal reply deadline, you set a cut-off date just for the people who haven't answered at all.

If you reschedule a rehearsal, the reminders follow the new time, even if one has already gone out.

Joint rehearsal: everyone on the same page

The choir director puts the same piece on everyone's screen. Nobody searches, everyone has the right music in front of them straight away.

Once everyone present has agreed, the recording runs along. It turns into minutes entries that you accept or discard.

More depth

Where Chorilo goes further

Other apps have some of this, but none of the six fully documents the feature. The difference is in the detail.

Reply straight from the email

One click on yes, no or maybe is enough, without logging in and without the app.

Others: email replies at most for guests without an account.

Parents reply for several children

A parent replies for themselves and all their children in one step, from the email too.

Others: parent accounts, but no single reply for several children.

Who changed what, and when?

For every reply you can see who changed it, when, and whether via app, browser or email.

Others: a list of recent changes, without the reply channel.

Reminders on your schedule

Several reminders per event, each freely adjustable, for example one week and one day before.

Others: one reminder or fixed times.

Concert programme with GEMA list

Build the programme from your sheet music library. Export the GEMA report list with title, composer, lyricist and duration in one click.

Others: song list at the event, but no GEMA list.

Several versions per piece

“Original”, “With piano”, “One tone higher” – each version keeps its own markings.

Others: several score files per piece, e.g. one for the director.

Singing career and anniversaries

Years in previous choirs are recorded too, so honours arrive for the right anniversary.

Others: anniversaries from the join date, without years in previous choirs.

Address book with tags

Organisers, sponsors and guests of honour with as many tags as you like, separate from the member list.

Others: address book with filters, tags not documented.

Excel import with preview

Before importing you see what will be taken over. Duplicates are spotted before they are created.

Others: import without a duplicate check, or only via support.

Reads receipts and e-invoices

A photo of the receipt is enough, the details are recognised. E-invoices are read when you upload them.

Others: e-invoices are read, receipt photos only stored.

Audit report

As a PDF with proof of balances, a warning about discrepancies and fields for the auditors' signatures.

Others: audit report without signature fields.

Minutes stay as they were approved

on request

Nobody can change or delete finalised minutes, not even the choir director.

Others: locked only if switched on when created.

Resolution register with votes

on request

Every resolution with yes, no and abstain votes, searchable across all meetings.

Others: resolutions per meeting, no register across all.

Open items don't get lost

on request

You carry unfinished agenda items and tasks over to the next meeting.

Others: open items added to a new meeting by hand.

Association management

Associations send circulars to their member choirs and see member numbers, across several levels too.

Others: circular messages or membership reports, not both together.

File storage with version history

Earlier versions of a file can be restored, and deleted files go to the bin first.

Others: file storage without version history, a bin only in some.

Photo albums with videos, no fixed storage limit

Concert photos and videos in albums. For each album you decide who sees it: the whole choir, single voice parts or everyone on your choir website.

Others: photos only in folders or a public gallery.

Ticket sales: 3.4% + €0.99 per ticket

Payment processing included. Chorilo pays out directly to your club's bank account, so you don't need a payment account of your own.

Only one of the six apps checked offers complete ticket sales with your own seating plan – and there the payment fee comes on top. With 200 tickets at €20, you save around €80 to €130 per concert with Chorilo.

What a ticket costs in fees

At typical concert prices you pay noticeably less per ticket with Chorilo – and payment processing is already included.

€20€1.67€2.05–2.31
€30€2.01€2.70–3.09

* Example: a provider charging a 5% + €0.50 ticket fee per ticket. There, the payment provider charges its fee separately through the club’s own account (1.5% to 2.8% + €0.25 depending on the card). As of September 2026.

Data protection

Where your data lives

“Servers in Germany” sounds clear. But who runs the servers matters too.

At Chorilo

  • Member data, sheet music, files, chats and the cashbook are stored exclusively in Germany, at German companies with no US parent.
  • The application and data run at a German company in Nuremberg and Falkenstein.
  • Files are stored at another German company in Frankfurt.

Both are German companies with no US parent company.

The exceptions, stated openly

  • Payments are processed by Stripe.
  • Push notifications are delivered by Apple and Google.
  • For AI features, only the excerpt needed is sent to an AI provider.

What to look out for

Some providers name Germany as their server location but run their servers with US corporations. What matters is who operates the servers, not where they stand: the CLOUD Act is a US law that lets US authorities access data held by American companies – even on servers in Europe.

Location is not operator
A data center in Frankfurt can belong to a US corporation. Ask which company runs the servers.
Who is allowed to access your data?
US authorities can demand data from US companies, even when the servers are in Europe.
Subprocessors
Ask to see the list of subprocessors in the data processing agreement.

Checklist

Ask your provider

Six questions you can use to check any offer. Our answer is below each one.

  1. 1

    Who runs the servers?

Chorilo: Two German companies with no US parent company, with data centers in Nuremberg, Falkenstein and Frankfurt.

  2. 2

Does the price go up with every member?

Chorilo: No. €10 a month or €100 a year, no matter how many members your choir has.

  3. 3

    Is storage limited?

Chorilo: There is no fixed cap. Sheet music, audio, documents and images for the choir are included under fair use.

  4. 4

Can the board run the treasury with it?

Chorilo: Yes: a cashbook with receipts, membership fees, optional bank connection and a GoBD export for German tax advisors.

  5. 5

How long is the trial, and does it end automatically?

Chorilo: 60 days, no credit card. It ends on its own and nothing is charged.

  6. 6

Will you move our data over when we switch?

Chorilo: Yes, for free and within 48 hours. Just send us your lists.

FAQ

Common questions about the comparison

How did you check?
We went through the public feature pages, pricing pages, help centres and app store texts of six choir and club apps, as of September 2026. An app only counts if it fully describes a feature there; the table briefly notes what the others offer instead. “Not documented” means we did not find it in these sources.
Why don’t you name other providers?
We care about features, not individual providers. Features and prices change all the time, so we give the date of our check and hand you the checklist so you can assess any offer yourself.
Is Chorilo cheaper than other choir apps?
That depends on the size of your choir. With Chorilo you pay €10 a month or €100 a year, however many members you have. With all six apps checked, the price rises with the number of members or users, so it's best to work it out with your current member count.
Are there areas where other apps offer more?
Yes: some apps offer more game-style practice with points and leaderboards, others are pure accounting programs with even more accounting detail.
What exactly does “data in Germany” mean at Chorilo?
Member data, sheet music, files, chats and the cashbook are stored exclusively in Germany, at German companies with no US parent in Nuremberg, Falkenstein and Frankfurt. This matters because under the CLOUD Act, US authorities can demand data from US companies even when the servers are in Europe. Payments go through Stripe, push notifications through Apple and Google, and for AI features only the excerpt needed is sent to an AI provider.
Do we still need club software alongside Chorilo?
Often not. Cashbook with DATEV export, fee collection by SEPA direct debit, donation receipts, address book and board meetings are included. We activate the board module for your choir on request.
How much work is switching?
Send us your member list or the export from your current software. We take over the data for free within 48 hours.
What happens after the 60 days?
The trial ends on its own and nothing is charged. If you want to stay, you subscribe: €10 a month or €100 a year.
