The Chorilo Family Grows: Jürgen Faßbender Takes Us to the Next Level

The Chorilo family is growing: Jürgen Faßbender, one of Germany's most distinguished choral conductors, is joining our team – he will help even more choirs discover Chorilo. We could not be happier – with Jürgen, Chorilo gains not only an experienced mind for marketing and communication, but above all someone who has known the choral world from the inside for decades: from the weekly rehearsal evening to the international competition stage.

A Renowned Name in the Choral World

Anyone active in the German choral scene knows Jürgen Faßbender. With ensembles such as Cantabile Limburg, he set standards for many years and won first prizes at renowned international competitions – including Arezzo, Riva del Garda, Tours, Vienna, Prague and the long-standing festival in Llangollen, Wales. He has won the German Choir Competition several times.

Since autumn 2018 he has conducted the male choir Harmonie Lindenholzhausen with more than 80 active singers, and he serves as artistic director of the HARMONIE FESTIVAL, one of the largest choir festivals in Europe. For many years he also led the Hessen State Youth Choir, shaping an entire generation of young singers.

Internationally, Jürgen is in demand as a juror, guest conductor and workshop leader – from the USA and Japan to Argentina and Brazil. In 2005 he represented Europe with Cantabile Limburg at the World Choral Symposium in Kyoto. Since 2012 he has represented Germany on the World Choir Council, and in 2023 he chaired the male choir jury at the German Choir Competition. As co-editor of the choral book series "Reine Männersache" and "Reine Frauensache" he received the German Music Edition Prize in 2017. His work has been honoured with the Certificate of Honour for Art and Culture of the State of Hessen (2023) and the Louis Spohr Medal (2024).

Chorilo grew out of real choir life: software experience and genuine choral practice have complemented each other from the very beginning. This is exactly where Jürgen comes in. He has stood in front of choirs for decades and knows from his own experience how rehearsals, concert planning, sheet music distribution and member communication really work – and where they often falter in everyday life.

In his new role, Jürgen will shape how Chorilo presents itself to the outside world – in conversation with choirs as well as with partners, music publishers and composers. That this role is taken on by someone who is a choral conductor himself is no coincidence – it is our principle: every message from Chorilo should come from choral practice, not from an advertising agency.

What This Means for Choirs on Chorilo

You benefit most from Jürgen joining us. His perspective from daily conducting practice flows directly into the further development of Chorilo: What does a choir really need? What can be left out? And where do things pinch in everyday club life? These questions will now be answered by someone who has been answering them himself for decades.

Chorilo will be more present where choirs actually sing, and can listen even more closely to what moves the choral scene.
