Welcome to Chorilo! In this video, we’ll show you step by step how to use the app for your choir.

It all starts with an email: your choir director invites you. It contains your login details: your email address and a temporary password. At the very bottom of the email, you’ll find the links to the app. No email? Then check your spam folder.

Download the Chorilo app from the App Store or from Google Play. Install it, open it, done. The app is free.

When you first open the app, your phone asks whether Chorilo may send you notifications. Tap Allow, so you never miss an event. After a quick overview, you’re ready to go. Declined by mistake? You can change that later in your phone’s settings.

Now you log in. Enter the email address from the invitation, then the password from the email. Watch out for upper and lower case. And now: Login.

Your phone may ask whether to save the password or use Face ID. That’s up to you. Then a quick tour shows you where to find things: the bar at the bottom, live rehearsal, your playlist, the bell for news, and your profile. Just tap Next.

First, set your own password: tap your profile picture at the top right and then Change password. Enter the old password from the email, then your new one twice. Save, and you’re done.

The home screen shows your next events at a glance. The bar at the bottom takes you to events, sheet music and messages. Further down, you’ll see the latest notification from your choir.

Under Events, you’ll find all rehearsals and performances. You can respond right on the card. Just confirm, and your choir director knows. Tip: Only without response shows you where your answer is still missing.

Tap an event to see all the details: date, time, place and description. Can’t make it? Then simply decline. Under Attendees, you can see who’s coming, sorted by voice part.

Under Sheet Music, you’ll find all your choir’s pieces. Tap a piece, and the music opens. To turn pages, swipe sideways or tap the edge. A tap in the middle shows the bars.

With the pencil, you add your own annotations, for example breath marks or highlights. There’s a highlighter, a pen, an eraser and text. Once saved, your annotations are there again the next time you open the piece.

Behind the three dots, you’ll find a piano and a metronome. Use the piano to quickly find your starting note.

For pieces with the Voice Trainer, you can practise your own part. Tap Trainer at the bottom. Choose your voice part and tap play; the music scrolls along. You can also set the tempo, the volume of each part, and loops for tricky passages.

Under Messages, you’ll find your choir’s notifications. If there’s a poll, choose your answer and tap Vote. You’ll see the results right away. And you can still change your vote later.

Below it, you can write a comment. Send it, and everyone in the choir sees your reply.

In Chat, you can write to the whole choir or to individual people. Open a chat, type your message, and send.

Under More, you’ll find other areas and your profile. With Customize bar, you decide which areas appear in the bar at the bottom. Then tap Done.

In your profile, you choose which notifications you get by push or email. Under Sheet music view, you decide how to turn pages and which bars you see. In your profile, you can also change your name and photo, and that’s where you log out.

You’re all set! On a computer, log in at chorilo.com with the same login details. Forgot your password? Then tap Forgot password on the login page. You’ll find more guides in the help section at chorilo.com. And for questions about events or music, your choir director is there to help.

Einladungslink

This feature is only available on the web.

What is this?

There are two ways into a choir on Chorilo:

  • The choir leadership adds you. They enter you in the member list with your email address. You get an email "Invitation to …" — with login details for a new account, or a sign-in link otherwise. You are already a member and do not need to confirm anything.
  • You get an invitation link. The choir leadership shares it by email, messenger or other means. You join yourself via the link.
  1. Open the invitation link in your browser. Alternatively, click "I have an invitation" on the sign-in page and paste the link.
  2. The "Join Ensemble" page shows the choir.
  3. Under "About you", enter first name, last name and email address. Everything else is optional: gender, voice, address and phone, important dates, bank details and the choir's own fields (the choir can make some of these mandatory).
  4. Accept the terms of service and the privacy policy.
  5. Click "Register & Join".
  6. New account: you get an email with your login details and sign in with them. Existing account: the choir is added to your account.

What you see as a new member

Which areas you see — such as events, sheet music, notifications, chats or the member list — depends on your permission group in the choir. Anyone joining via an invitation link gets the Member group; the choir leadership can change this.

Permission

No special permission is needed to accept an invitation.

Tips

  • Change the temporary password from the email right after your first login (Settings › Password).
  • Install the app and sign in there with the same login details.
  • Add a profile picture so your fellow choir members recognize you.

Frequently asked questions

What if I do not have a Chorilo account yet?▾
One is created when you join. You get an email with your login details and a temporary password, which you change after your first login.
I already have an account — what happens?▾
If you enter the email address of your existing account when joining, the choir is added to that account. You sign in as usual.
How long is an invitation link valid?▾
The link does not expire. It stays valid until the choir leadership generates a new one — then the old one stops working.
I joined but do not see the choir.▾
Some choirs release new members manually. You will see the choir as soon as the choir leadership approves you.
